As photographers we often forget how spoiled we are. We get to play in the great outdoors and work with all kinds of great couples. There’s all kinds of factors that help lead to a successful shoot that create beautiful images but none are more important than the simple chemistry of our married couples to be. Baylee and Nick were a dream to work with. Both of them are so easy going but much more importantly, totally into each other, and it shows. I’m really looking forward to the July wedding at the Mt. Charleston Hotel and being a part of their big day. To Baylee and Nick, I hope you love the images and hope you had as much fun as Tammi and I did. All the best.

Mary+Jerrod

When it comes to some good old 80’s rock there might not be another couple that share the knowledge and love for it more than Mary and Jerrod. In fact when they decided to have a portion of their E-session photographed at Feel Goods, Vince Neils bar, I realized that 80’s music was more than just a genre to the couple it was a life passion. And how do you follow up a photo shoot at Feel Goods with an awesome couple, well you photograph their wedding soon after, and again the 80’s rock was out in full force, this time in the form of Mary and Jerrod’s choreographed first dance… A first dance to the tunes of Motley Crue and Jon Bon Jovi, you have to check out the modified version of the air guitar below. It really was spectacular, and I know not only did their guest get a kick out of it, so did the entire Digs Team.

Virginia’s 100th Birthday portrait

Last year Derek and I had the opportunity to hear many great photographers speak and one thing many of them spoke of touched our hearts. They spoke of how as artists we sometimes overlook taking images of our loved ones and let years go by without documenting those people that matter most. Derek and I made a promise to ourselves to document our families each year, since you never know what will happen in life.

Being in the Holsum Lofts, we get many people stopping into our studio, to see what we do. We enjoy the surprise visits and the opportunity to speak to people who enjoy touring downtown Las Vegas. Last week we had some visitors that stopped in, they had just finished lunch and were walking the shops. As we spoke with this couple and their grandson, we found out that Virginia was celebrating her 100th birthday and the lunch at Lola’s had been special. So we asked her if she would like her portrait done in honor of her birthday. She couldn’t remember when she had her image taken last and least of all by a professional.We then asked her husband to join in on the fun.

May we present Virginia and her groom (they have been married 60+ years)… thank you for allowing us to capture you now and I hope these images will be cherished in the future.

David and Amanda were married on St. Valentine’s Day last year and this year brought their friends and family together to celebrate their union and love. Celebrating their nuptials at Four Seasons, they had a beautiful candle light ceremony on the balcony, followed by dinner inside the ballroom. They personalized many elements of their wedding with a custom picture wedding cake, personalized grand entrance bridal party biographies and personalized dances with messages prerecorded. When I met this couple a few months back, I could not wait to meet their little girl Charlie. While she doesn’t yet understand the importance of the date, I hope the pictures will be cherished in the years to come and that she can see the love her parents hold for each other and her.

Thank you David and Amanda for asking us to be a part of your day. Best wishes for your new start in Oregon. We hope you enjoy the Northwest lifestyle.

I’m hoping to show off a lot of images from senior sessions this year. I especially have so much fun, bouncing from location to location, looking to capture something special, a glimpse of true personality and insight in a special time in a high school senior’s life. We encourage our young clients to pick locations, outfits and props for the shoot that really express who they are. It might be their bedroom in their parents’ house that they may not be returning to after they graduate. Maybe their guitar or baseball bat. In Mikaela’s case, we went swimming. She’s on the HS team and from what I’ve seen, is quite a swimmer. She braved some cold temperatures to get it done, but we had a blast and it was worth it. She’s a natural in front of the camera and she looks awesome! Check her out everybody, here’s Mikaela

Amanda+David SDE @ The Four Seasons

Last night I got to do something that I have never tried before. I filmed a wedding and performed a Same day experience by myself. For me this was a landmark event. It took me back to my time with a member from Stillmotion who was teaching me about putting this type of video together. I remember looking at him just confused and saying that I don’t think I could ever pull it off. His response to me was “Yeah, you can! c’mon I used to shoot and edit these things by myself!”. Well three months later I was making my first attempt. Now that I’ve found my flow with them I’ve really wanted to challenge myself to see If I can do it the way my friend could. So everybody knows, the video was a complete suprise as the couple only booked Derek and Rhiannon. I just wanted to film something! Oh and a special thank you to Rhi for helping me carry all that gear!

OK, enough about my nerd excitement! I didn’t get to meet Amanda or David until I showed up at Amanda’s room but I found it was easy for me to quickly bond with them. There one year old Charlie was also there do celebrate the day with them. The wedding was small, intimate, and beautiful! enjoy this short film I put together for them.

The East Coast Tour

A few months ago I went back East to New York to shoot Abby and DJ’s wedding. At this very moment I am preparing the final feature for them to be colored and sent out when it hit me. I’ve never put my version of there highlight reel on the blog nor did I even talk about what I did out there. Well better late then never!

The trip was awesome! for one I got to see some of my old New York friends. One of which who got married while I was out there. I only went as a guest but to be honest when I saw what her video guy was doing I had a strong urge to knock him over and take his camera. I guess that’s what comes with the territory when you’re passionate about what you do! I did also get to work with my friend Joseph of J2Media who we flew out from Seattle to help us shoot. I met Joseph last year at the Evolution Experience and we have stayed close ever since. When my laptop died on my excursion Joseph was kind enough to cut his own version of there highlight reel. Hey Joseph when are you flying me out to Seattle to shoot!! I’m waiting ; )

Oh and I also got to shoot a wedding In NJ with my good friend Greg Lassik of Endless Wave If you’re getting married on the east coast fly me out ( I love to travel) but if you can’t hire this guy to shoot your wedding. He is simply incredible. His creativity is endless and he is by far one of the most charismatic and friendliest people I have ever known. I’d like to show you our collaboration. We stayed up all night and all the next day editing this trailer side by side. We argued, compromised and then argued some more. Some of the most fun I’ve had all season. It was so exciting working with him and I can’t wait to fly him out here sometime this year to film a digs couple.

I’m back everybody. After weeks of bumming around the states visiting friends and discovering America, I’m home in Las Vegas. My home, yet everybody else’s playground. Suzy and Hayk are Los Angeles natives that are here every other week lighting it up at Caesars. And in the true Las Vegas spirit they tied the knot in the most unconventional way, a Vegas staple, the downtown chapel. After a some quick portraits we headed down to the Little White Chapel, a wedding destination for some big names like Michael Jordan, Joan Collins, Brittney Spears (the first time, not K-Fed) and more. After a kitchy ceremony we headed down to Opa!, an awesome and truly authentic Greek restaurant with great food and great entertainment. The vodka and tequila flowed and it was a wonderful event for the family, friends… and I had a great time too. I’m looking forward to showing you all some new and fresh images as often as possible! Here you go everybody, Suzy and Hayk…

Well, it seems as if it has been months since my last post, and although I, and most of the studio, have enjoyed some time off, it sure was nice to have my trusty camera back in my hands, doing what I love to do most, photograph people and life’s moments. So meet Chelsea and Colin, who visited Las Vegas this past weekend, from their home state of Alaska, to renew their one year wedding vows. Since Colin had been deployed for most of last year, the couple never had the wedding they desired, so they decided to come to Vegas with their closest friends and family to throw a party not soon to be forgotten.
