Where in the world did 2011 go? I can’t believe the new year is creeping up on us already. In celebration of the beautiful New Year to come I wanted to show off some of my favorite photos from 2011. This was my first year shooting (so don’t judge to harshly jan-juneish). Seriously, so a big thank you to all of my amazing clients that trusted me with such important days in their lives. I must say, my first year couldn’t have been any better. You were all so much fun and easy to work with. But of course I have to give all the thanks and credit to my Digs team. Derek and Rhi, I couldn’t explain how much it means to me that you guys took a risk on a high school student and put so much trust in me. I wouldn’t be doing what I am doing today if it weren’t for the both of you. I love you both so much for everything you have given and taught me. And Michael, can’t forget Michael. You’ll forever be my “boss”. Thank you so much for all the knowledge you have shared with me over the years and for making weddings fun even though I hated assisting. I couldn’t have had a better teacher. Last but not least, my Grady! Thank you so much for the amazing friendship you have given me. I couldn’t ask for something better to take out of Digs. You’re a great guy and my best friend! GA SHOW! I am so excited for next year. I can’t wait to see my work grow. I only have two more years to be the best! Successful by 21 (Listen Bitches)! Love you all!

After an extremely busy wedding season it was time for me to get my travel fix in! This time to a different country. It was my first time out of the country and it was definitely an amazing experience. I loved everything about Berlin. It was such a pretty city. It’s kind of like a clean, quite, New York. My Boyfriend, Ray and I spent a lot of time walking, and exploring. This was his fifth time going so he knows his way around a bit. The reason we chose Germany in the middle of November for vacation was because Ray gets tattooed out there. He gets tattooed by the one and only Lus Lips, meeting that man was an adventure with in itself. I can’t wait to go back, and who knows, maybe get some permanent art too Enjoy!

I was born in the most amazing city and raised in the lamest! Luckily, I have so many family and friends in New York that I’m able to visit whenever my little heart desires! This trip was a little bitter-sweet. My best friend of nearly 10 years, Kevin, just moved out there. So being the great friend that I am, I went across the country to drop him off. I had a great time, the weather was absolutely PERFECT (besides humidity, which us Vegas locals are not quite used to). Here are a few photos from my trip.

I wanted to feel like every other New Yorker, so I grabbed Ez’s cigarette. Chaz can even make smoking look cool. (I’ve never inhaled a cigarette in my life)
Our last day, and we were definitely sad to be leaving Kevin and Andrea and the beautiful city.

For the first time in quite sometime Mike and I had the weekend off, sooo sporadically we decided to join them! While they were shooting we stayed in Livermore and explored Nothern Cali. Livermore, San Fran and Berkeley. It was good quality family time! Lots of food and A LOT of wine. Can’t wait to go back! Here are a few photos from our lovely Labor Day Weekend.

“All your hard work, did not go unnoticed…” towards the end of camp, two cabins presented our team with a thank you card, however we think we should give them a thank you hug.

For the last two years, Candlelighters has welcomed Digs Studio and Running Bull Productions into their family of volunteers. Camp Firefly can not be described in words, however with images and films we hope to show you the kids adventures. This year we also decided that we wanted to give the campers a taste of what goes into producing an actual movie, so for the first three days the campers worked diligently shooting, acting, producing and editing scenes all of which were completed just under the Saturday night deadline and premiere for everyone to enjoy. The shorts below, A Fist Full of Gold Fish, and The Firefly Kid, were produced, and shown all while at camp, AMAZING work. Not only did we find that there may be acting, producing, filming or editing careers in the future for many involved, we witnessed, first hand, how great and talented many of these youngsters really are.

The Highlight below is also a sneak peak into the week that was Camp Firefly 2011. Thank you again for all those involved, especially all the volunteers and counselors that always work so hard, often times without recognition, helping us do this for the kids, because without them none of these films would be possible.

How do we begin to describe our live changing week, the week that each year puts life into perspective a little more… last year we were introduced us to Candlelighters-Childhood Cancer Foundation. After seeing their Camp Firefly film from the previous year, our studio wanted to give to this wonderful organization. So off to camp we went, leaving the heat of Las Vegas, we headed to Torino Ranch, where kids get to be kids. Their days are packed full of activities from singing to dancing to unexpected water fights. Each camper comes prepared with the best water guns and water balloons. Everyone is free game and if we didn’t have a camera we got wet.

This years theme was “Wild Wild West” and it was all about cowboys, cowgirls and indians. The Country Superstars Tribute gave their time and put on a concert that the kids are sure to remember. Along with Running Bull Productions, Digs Studio worked with the older teens to create two short films, Tim McGraw AKA Adam, donated his time and acting skills to be a part of the film. Stay tuned for when we post the films. Also want to give a big shout out to one of our favorite local photographers, Larry Lorenz of Lorenz Photo for sharing his talents at camp with us this year.

This camp is possible because of the donations made to the foundation and the volunteers who give their time to help at camp. While we do this for the kids, we also get something back. We get to see the children smile a little more, laugh a little harder and have fun doing everything we grew up doing at camp. If you are interested in contributing to this great foundation, please visit their website.

Also we are not done just yet. Visit our blog again, when the highlight of camp is completed.

Hugs and love… Digs team and everyone who made this possible!

Chiang Mai is the second largest city in Thailand but is way smaller than you might think. It’s home to a lot of history and is a very cool place to chill, check out some wats (temples), eat so much great food, shop for crafts and all is ridiculously cheap, even for Thai standards. This place became my home for a few weeks and I made so many travel companions I hope to keep for many years to come. I’ll be showing off the mysterious north sometime real soon. Please stay tuned and drop a comment anytime, thanks!

When I took off on my journey, many shared their concern for how dangerous it would be abroad, especially in a place like Thailand and especially Bangkok, the only metropolitan city in Thailand and by far the biggest. I decided to put this theory to the test… and I wandered. I wandered into one of the many ghettos of Bangkok simply to photograph the people. What I found was a surprise to many of my friends, both the travelers and my compandres stateside. The people of Bangkok were warm, friendly, and generous… to an amazing degree considering they’re so very poor. I couldn’t pass by anyone without entering their home, eating their food, or sharing a glass (or 2 or 3) of Thai whiskey or beer. I can’t say enough what a life-reaffirming experience I had and I hope to keep that spirit inside me for a long time. Here’s a few shots from my interesting (if not buzzed…) day on the streets of Bangkok.
