Jessica+Rob | Wedding at DragonRidge

When I left Las Vegas I really wanted to leave on a high note. With Jessica and Rob I succeeded in that goal. I got a lot of filming done the few days I was in Vegas with Jessica and Rob filming the two afternoons before there wedding and the entire wedding day itself. I had a full crew on this one with Jimmy, Kim, and Grady coming in for the first half of the day. Putting this highlight together was really tough since their was so much going on.

I met Jessica and Rob almost a year ago and have been really excited to film this event. There family were warm and kind and just watching this short it is easy to see just how much these two were meant from one another. Thank you all for having me film such an important day for you!

Calvi+Eric | Best Dance Ever

As my time with digs nears its end, I am so glad that for my last events I will be filming some amazing people. Calvi and Eric are no exception. Sometimes you can tell just looking at the way a couple looks at each other you can see just how in love they are. This wedding had one of the best and funniest first dances that I have ever come across and is not something to be missed. I can’t wait to get cracking on there final feature film.

Sarah+Dan | Fun, Booze and Love at the Vdara!

I’m back! For those of you that don’t know, I moved to Washington D.C. two months ago, and I’m starting my own studio in the area. I have only a small handful of couples left that I will be working with for the rest of the year and I’m so excited to close this year out with a bang! Vegas, you’ve been good to me, and I hope that I can send off 2011 with the best wedding films ever!

On Saturday, I shot the wedding of two very close friends of mine, Sarah and Dan! I’ve known Sarah for almost eight years now and this is the first wedding film that I’ve ever filmed for a friend. The past few days with them has been packed with friends, family, lots of beer, and even more love.

Because Sarah and Dan are such awesome people, I decided that I would surprise them with a same day edit. This was probably the least stressful SDE I have ever put together, but I won’t lie. Same day edits are always an adrenaline-fueled race against the clock. I have to give special thanks to my crew, and the Seanster for helping me rough cut the video.

Watching the way these to look at each other made me very glad that they chose me to film the event. See for yourself in the video below. I can’t wait to finish their full feature film, because their wedding was truly an epic event. Stay tuned for photos from Jennifer from this event.

Jackie+David | @ The Mix Highlights

I was so happy to be back in town to film this event. Their is nothing like watching two people in love interact with each other as well as there friends and family. These were two people that were truly in love. I think my favorite shot in this clip has got to be Davids reaction to seeing Jackie as she stepped into that aisle. This is one film that I can’t wait to edit in the feature, there is so much to show that I just couldn’t in a highlight!

On the behind the scenes note I have to give out a few shout outs. This was my first wedding working with Jacqueline from Scheme Events. I have to say she is by far one of the best coordinators I have had the pleasure of working with. I also would like to give a shout out to Mike L. The last time I saw Mike at a wedding I was filming him! now we’re working together. This guy was a hell of a lot of fun at his wedding and he sure was bringing it at this event. Also want to say thanks to Jeff And Jeremy from All Night Long. I’ve worked with them a few times now and they’re great to work with every time! you can tell by the awesomeness of the audio in this highlight.

Judy+Jason| Highlights from Four Seasons. Las Vegas Wedding Cinema and Video

Judy and Jason were married at The Four Seasons last month. Its always amazing to me whenever I see so many people come out to celebrate someones wedding with them and being that Judy and Jason came to Vegas all the way from Montreal, Canada it was easy to see how much they are loved by there friends and family. I really enjoy seeing many of the traditional events at a wedding and this one is no different. Being of Jewish descent myself I thought that I’d seen every type of Jewish events at a wedding, boy was I wrong. I’ve seen plenty of couples hoisted up in chairs during a hora but a table while the couple danced on it! That was really exciting to film.

Holly+Jimmy | Highlights from Griffen Mansion. Las Vegas Wedding Cinema and Video

Jimmy and Holly were married last week at Griffen Mansion and we are so happy that they chose us to capture there day. When we first sat down with them I knew that we were really going to get along. Jimmy also has a video background so he understood all of my geek speak. Holly was kind enough to smile and play along. I can honestly say that it was hard to pick and choose what would make the edit for the highlight and what had to hit the cutting room floor (for now). Their was so much going on everywhere from there anticipation to see each other to the way that there friends were helping to set up both there ceremony and reception. We even managed to capture some new and old family traditions.

On another note I am glad to say that we will be bringing Jimmy on as one of our new trainees to the cinema team. Only time will tell but I feel that he will be a great addition and I can’t wait to start bossing him around JK.

Mina+Ervin | The Highlight from DragonRidge. Las Vegas wedding cinema and video

You may have seen Mina and Ervin’s same day edit back in October but I thought I’d post there highlights from the day as well. They were so much fun to work with. Mina had me laughing the whole day! I also got some help from the boss on this one since Derek jumped on this project to be my second shooter. Did he do a good job? What do you think?

Justin+Mel | Save the date!

I am so excited to show this clip off for two reasons. For one, Justin and Mel happen to be really good friends of mine and this is the first of many friends I have getting married who I will have the honor of filming over the next two years. The other reason I am excited about this clip is because in is showcasing the evolution that digs films are going through. What we have been really trying ever since we switched to the cinematic style is to tell our couples stories at the point were a stranger can look at a film and relate to it as if the were relating to a character in a movie. This clip is just the tip of the iceberg on were we plan on going with our couples, more personnel, and more about the people. No formula just me getting to know you as best I can, to become a friend so that I can tell your story better then anyone else.

Again I’d like to thank my friends for letting me do this and especially thank Mel for letting me push the envelope when she started to cry. One of the best interviews I’ve ever done, but you’ll have to wait to November to see how it all pans out ; )

Riza+Nick’s Same Day Edit

The cinema team is back in swing with our first wedding of the season. Riza and Nick were so much fun to work with, watching these to together was a real pleasure for us it made crafting there story so easy. What we really wanted to showcase in this short was how these two are getting ready to face the future together. Filming there house closing was essential to what I wanted to show. I felt by showing this sequence the film becomes about much more then a wedding day.

On a technical note this wedding was the fastest I have ever had to get a same day edit up. Usually I don’t get to start editing the SDE until we get to the reception but thanks to Asha who helped me with both assisting and picking out shots to be transcoded I was able to finish it in record time. A few of her shots even made the film!

Thank you Riza annd Nick for inviting us into your lives to show such a great story!

Best F’n Cinema Team… Ever!

Last Tuesday I was honored with the award for Best Cinematography by Las Vegas Bride. It has been a long time coming for me and my crew. We have been working tirelessly to raise the bar in wedding cinema to show people that wedding videos can tell a story in fresh, new and fun ways.

Our team constantly pushes each other to do better and try new things. Innovation is the fuel in our little cinema engine. There is no way I could have gotten to this point without my crew, whom I owe my deepest thanks.

In that first photo you see there is Adam Courier AKA “Macgruber” a name given to him because if something breaks during a shoot, he can repair it with duct tape, gum and/or whatever else you see lying around. He has been filming weddings with us since the spring of 09? and he is in charge of all the commercial work that comes into our studio. I have worked with many producers since I was in film school and I can honestly say that none of them comes close to the kind of leadership and creativity this guy has.

That very tall gentlemen to the far right is in the next photo is Grady Rawls AKA “Kitten.” This nickname was given to him because he thinks he can speak cat. Grady has been filming weddings with us since the fall of 09? and has become one of our studios greatest assets. He also happened to take the role of director in a few weddings that we filmed this year. The video below was filmed by Grady and Adam and edited by Grady. (Also, our resident photographer Asha gets some credit too, since she filmed a little and is one of the best assistants you can have.)

Then there’s Sean. Not only is he a talented shooter, but he also happens to be one of my best friends. Although Sean works during the week educating our youth as a high school teacher, (I know — scary) he is always willing to come out and help us if we are ever in a pinch. He also knows more about beer and sports then anyone I know. Needless to say, he always gets to film the guys when the bride and groom are getting ready.

So again thank you guys! You are the best team around! I would also like to thank Derek and Rhiannon for all of there support over the last few years, it has been quite a ride. I honestly can say that we are like a family–a big, crazy family, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Finally, a thousand thank yous to all of our amazing couples over the past year. Without you, we wouldn’t have anything to show on this little blog of ours. I feel so lucky to be filming the most important day of your lives. You are some of the most interesting, funny, loving, and friendliest people I have ever met. Thank you for sharing your lives with us!

To all of our brides coming up, you ain’t seen nothing yet!

Happy Holidays!!

When the first of November rolls at the studio, all of know that the wedding season is winding down. I know I can speak for the whole team when I say that the last wedding of the season was not a let down at all.
Angie and Dave’s personality and playful spirit made the day easy and there was never a dull moment. Their day was held at the beautiful JW Marriot. The outside ceremony was a perfect setting for a fall wedding. After the ceremony was over, it was time to party. There was no holding back with this group. People came from all parts of country to attend this wedding and I know each and every person had a great time.
It was a pleasure working with Angie and Dave, and I think this highlight catches the spirit of the day. Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed putting it together..
