This past weekend was probably one of the greatest experiences of my life, and for Digs to be a part of such an incredible organization such as Candle lighters is simply an honor. Candle Lighters is an organization of support for children and adolescents with cancer and their families. Every summer the organization, with the tireless help of so many volunteers, puts on a four day summer camp for these children and their siblings. So when Digs was approached to be a part of the week we immediately marked it on our calender. A very special thanks has to be given to one of our own Adam Courrier, for putting in the extra hours and time so this opportunity could be possible for the studio.
The entire Digs team was so taken back by the beauty of the camp, the volunteers endless commitment to the kids, love for each other and the organization, and of course all the children who showed up to camp, energetic and ready to rock! I, along with the entire studio, honestly can say that this is the greatest and most meaningful work we have ever done. Three same day edits in three days was mentally and physically exhausting for the team but without a doubt the cheers, tears, and laughs from children, volunteers, and ourselves made it worth it.
After the children had left the camp the volunteers expressed that there was sometimes a “big letdown” because one could not simply explain all the emotion, love, excitement, hard work, friendships, teamwork, life changing experiences, and the sheer amount of fun this week was for all involved. So from the bottom of our hearts, we hope this short film gives those involved or perhaps not yet involved a real taste of this AWSOME week. From the entire Digs Team to all the volunteers who made this such a great experience, to all the wonderful kids that have touched our lives, Cheers!
